About
Award Winning ‘West Sussex Restaurant of the Year’

Sylvan Oak restaurant, close to Worthing was born because of a very strong family tradition in the restaurant business with a consuming passion for excellent food.
Whether it was Sinan’s father flambéing atthe table to a suitably impressed diner, or learning secret recipes from his mother’s plethora of food creations, Sinan Kalan has honed his earlier experiences in life to something which is now quite special.
Influenced secondary by the basis and style of French cuisine and their delicate flavours and techniques; Sinan’s style is to take the inspiration from the traditional and marry it with the contemporary using European, Middle Eastern and Asian influences. Every dish is bursting with flavour, yet not over-powering as synergy between flavours, colour, texture and aroma are so carefully thought out during hours of experimenting to get each dish perfect.
The name Sylvan Oak by definition, encapsulates the fact that within the restaurant there are a variety of woods nestled within the framework of the building. This combined with the neutral palettes and the hanging art which are all individually chosen by Sinan, we present you with an exceptional countryside setting combined with first class, yet relaxed service.
Sylvan Oak is like the kitchen of your best friend with an incredible talent with food: welcoming, radiant, extravagant if needed and above all honest and rewarding. Look at some of our latest dishes on the Sylvan Oak Food Gallery.
